Hitoshi Takanashi: Executive Biography
Hitoshi Takanashi is the President and Chief Executive Officer of NTT Multimedia Communications Laboratories, Inc.
Prior to assuming his executive leadership role in December 2004, Takanashi was the Chief Technology Director and Wireless Project Manager for five years.
Takanashi has over seventeen years of experience in the wireless field. He began his career with Nippon Telegraph & Telephone (NTT) in 1987 as a research and development engineer. Takanashi has been a key contributor in the development of various wireless related projects, such as developing high data rate wireless access systems based on Ethernet protocol, wireless security systems for “hotspot” systems, wireless Internet systems and applications, wireless routing technologies and the list goes on and on.
His work at NTT has resulted in over one hundred patents. One of the most significant patents was for PIAFS (PHS data communication scheme). Takanashi was also an original proposer of the global wireless LAN standard (IEEE802.11a) and served as the technical editor of the IEEE802.11a.
Takanashi holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Keio University in Japan. |
